SITE PREPARATION

The foundation under a shed is no different than the foundation under your home. Site preparation is a very important part of a lasting and sturdy shed.  If you want the shed to last for generations, then you will want to take your time on placement, positioning, and the preparation of the site where the storage shed will be placed.  If the shed is properly set up with a good foundation, the windows and doors will function properly. CR-10 Storage Barns works with local third party excavation contractors to help install a proper foundation for your new building.

Shed pads are typically built with a 4” to 6” base of 3/4” to 1-1/2” crusher run. Crusher run when installed correctly will act as if it were a cement pad! All of our third party contractors shoot the grade of the pad with a laser level in order to insure a level pad, left to right, and front to back!

Customer Responsibilities

STEP 1: Check with your local code enforcer for placement of your soon to come structure to make sure you’ll be within setback/zoning rules.

STEP 2: Clear the site of any debris, trees, bushes, or shrubs. (Excavation contractor can do this at an extra cost.)

STEP 3: Stake out the the dimensions of your building and add an extra 2 feet for the length and width of the building. This will ensure that the building pad has proper drainage, helping to increase the longevity of your building!

Contractor Task

Contractor will show up with a truck and trailer with the proper equipment to remove 4” to 6” of sod. Contractor will pile the sod near the pad location. If you don’t want the sod, the contractor will haul it away at an additional cost.

Once the sod has been removed, the contractor will start to spread the crusher run and level it with his laser level. Once the stone is laser in, the contractor will tamper it causing it to become “rock hard” (pun intended!) and ready for your building!
